TUBULAR STEEL CANTILEVER CHAIR WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SINGLE UNINTERRUPTED LINE This comfortable club chair was presented in 1930 at the Paris Grand Palais as a contribution by the Deutscher Werkbund. Together with Walter Gropius and Herbert Bayer, Marcel Breuer organised this premiere of contemporary German furniture production in France. With the S 35 he succeeded in integrating all of the functions of a tubular steel cantilever chair with the construction of a single uninterrupted line. The cantilever effect was thus doubled because the armrests, which flex independently from the seat, balance the swinging of the seat and backrest frame that projects towards the back. A matching footstool is available. Frames chrome-plated tubular steel. Seat, backrest and footstool covered with black full-grain butt leather, brown buffalo hide or with cowhide cover. Armrests in stained beech or oiled walnut. With “ThonetProtect®” surface for the frames and UV resistant mesh – version “Thonet All Seasons” – for variable use indoors and outdoors. Armrests Iroko. In addition, cushions for seat and backrest.
